Followers Urge Detainment of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate supporters of Ariana Grande are demanding that a man who jumped a barrier and seized the celebrity during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or removed from Singapore.
A circulating footage depicts the individual from Australia pushing past media personnel and lunging at Grande while the performers walked down a event pathway surrounded by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly pulled the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "released after being taken in", though official papers indicated that he was scheduled to appear on the next day. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
History of Event Invasions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a performance. His Instagram account contains clips of him disturbing other celebrity events, including rushing the platform at the artist's Sydney concert in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last December.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," stated an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Followers Show Disapproval Over the Star's Safety
Numerous supporters blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said a further comment on Instagram.
Some supporters also faulted event staff at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while others requested social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's content.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande seemed startled when she was approached by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the situation, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of attendees had congregated in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had queued for as long as many hours before it started.
The movie, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a dual adaptation of the acclaimed theatrical show Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected relationship between two distinct sorceresses.
The musical itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a light pink sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and scored a dozen award recognitions, securing two for outstanding attire and set decoration.
