The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Mayor.

It might not have been at the same level as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the Miami-Dade County mayor had her own Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the commencement of a current administration.

“Unless you count eating half a dozen apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”

This ceremony, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was created to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The swine, donated by a local firefighter, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people shouting “six-seven” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The craze became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently made “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A Future Secured

Six Seven the pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The annual pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to open the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, in a decidedly positive message.

“It represents the spirit of Miami: happy, multicultural, and rooted in traditions that bring people together. Annually, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way unique to Miami.”

Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of croquettes and strong coffee as they toasted the pig's pardon.
