The British government is prepared to move forward with employing the full worth of immobilized Russian funds to bolster Ukraine's defense operations, PM Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a shared declaration, the leaders of the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany asserted that this coordinated action would heighten pressure on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and compel Moscow to engage in negotiations.

They clarified that the move would be executed in strong partnership with the US.

British sanctions have immobilized over £25bn of Russia's funds since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. But, up to this point, funds allocated to Ukraine using Russia's holdings had solely been drawn from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were united in their goal to drive progress toward employing the complete amount of the frozen Russia's state holdings to end the war.

He noted that more measures soon would increase the strain on Russia.

This announcement is subsequent to European Union officials convened in Copenhagen recently to discuss employing frozen Russian holdings for a €140 billion credit to Ukraine.

In the previous month, US President Donald Trump called on Group of Seven partners to confiscate or employ frozen Russian holdings, according to reports.

The worth of frozen Russian assets in the Europe is estimated to be almost €211bn.

Moscow launched extensive bombardments all over Ukraine on Friday, leading to electricity outages in many areas of the capital city, Kyiv, and eight other regions.

A pair of individuals were killed and at least 20 people were wounded in the assault, the Ukrainian government said.

In a message on X following the attack, Zelensky wrote that the cynical and calculated attack focused on civilian and energy infrastructure.

"What's needed is not mere statements but concrete steps - from the United States, the European Union, and the G7 - in delivering defense mechanisms and applying restrictions," he stated.

"All penalty impositions diminishes Russia's war machine," Zelensky noted, in a different message.

Also on Friday, Zelensky informed media outlets he would encourage Sir Keir to enter the PURL scheme, under which alliance members buy military equipment from the United States to donate to the Ukrainian forces.

While applauding the Britain's consistent assistance for Ukraine, he remarked it should indicate firmly that it would participate in the program, as well as apply additional measures on the Russian Federation.
